social behaviour in a digital world
This section of my site will be undergoing some changes soon.
Prior to BCIT, I held a number of interactive design and management roles in the public and private sector. I’ve been on both the agency and client (in-house) side.
I am not primarily a visual designer, but often work on the kinds of elements of my projects in the skills overview section above. Below you’ll find a smattering of things I’ve done at various points in my working life on the web. Click in the obvious place below to reveal more stuff.
The project on the left was the web piece of an entire re-branding exercise for a well-known Vancouver architectural firm. Next to that was a small web site for a trades training certification organization. On the right is a companion web site for BC Hydro’s Powersmart Awards and Forum.

Artwork and graphics above were done by Junxion Strategy.
For some time I also played around with a variety of different strategies for my portfolios. As of 2008 my blog and portfolio are all under one online roof and quite likely to stay that way.
All the domains indicated below now point to the site you’re on. Click on any tile below to reveal a larger image.
Below that is a sample of a small acquisition banner ad I produced by extracting existing collateral and repurposing into an animation. I also produced a large anniversary promotional web site, not pictured here.
All work was published behind their corporate firewall. Click on any tile below to reveal a larger image.

At left is a spec job for an online newsletter which was ultimately not used. I like the soft colour palette and rounded corners so I keep it here for a bit of posterity. Next to that is a small nonprofit site I designed pro bono, for a group opposed to marketing to children in public schools. In addition to designing, hand-coding and managing the whole site, I did some other communications work for them too.
From 2000-2004, I was managing a lot of web properties, portal tools and projects for Telus Communications. I didn’t produce a lot of things that would fit into a web portfolio, so that’s why there’s not a whole lot to see.
Portrait V2K was a City of Vancouver Millennium celebration which included online submission of stories, photos and other memories. I did some design, information architecture and general web strategy for this.
At left is a logo I designed for the Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition. I was also on their first board, handling communications and web stuff for them.
Next is the City of Vancouver. I was the first webmaster there and designed this version of the site. I oversaw all content publishing on the public and intranet web sites and managed a number of online projects, including live election results and the implementation of a ticket payment application.
To the right of that is the site for Vancouver Civic Theatres. I designed it and managed the site for them, along with a bunch of other communications work. My original design is still there, though much of it has fallen apart after nearly 12 years of updating by FTP.
