People-centred & Process-oriented

I follow a reliable, proven process and use the right techniques and tools for the job at hand. Read on for a little more about the work I do in research, testing and design.

Research & Discovery

It is crucial to understand your problem, your business, your stakeholders and your customers first. I ask a lot of questions to determine a starting point from which to begin the design phase.

Typical activities & outputs:

  • content audits & prioritization / ranking
  • user research & customer journeys
  • stakeholder engagement & needs analysis
  • environmental scans & competitive analysis

Information Architecture & Interaction Design

Designing for real people requires a research-based, iterative approach to structure, design and prototyping. Where possible, I prefer to iterate through design “sprints” until an acceptable product is achieved.

Typical activities & outputs:

  • group activities & collaborative design exercises
  • low fidelity flows, structure diagrams & wireframes
  • rapid & higher fidelity prototypes
  • testing analysis & refinement cycles

Testing & Validation

Multi-modal user testing to determine if designs and prototypes are hitting the mark. Often considered as part of the design process, I treat testing as a discreet activity, to inform and guide design.

Typical activities & outputs:

  • A/B, multivariate & preference tests
  • first click, navigation & question tests
  • task completion analysis & observation

WordPress Consulting

I specialize in WordPress theme development and project coordination services. I bring solid communication skills and strong understanding of standard web development processes.

Services include:

  • hosting & platform setup
  • theme framework & parent/child theme development
  • workflow/plugin consulting & customization
  • full site builds
