People-centred & Process-oriented

I follow a reliable, proven process and use the right techniques and tools for the job at hand. Read on for a little more about the work I do in research, testing and design.

Research & Discovery

It is crucial to understand your problem, your business, your stakeholders and your customers first. I ask a lot of questions to determine a starting point from which to begin the design phase.

Typical activities & outputs:

content audits & prioritization / ranking
user research & customer journeys
stakeholder engagement & needs analysis
environmental scans & competitive analysis

Interaction Design & User Testing

Designing for real people requires a research-based, iterative approach to structure and design. Where possible, I prefer to iterate through design “sprints” until an acceptable product is achieved.

Typical activities & outputs:

group whiteboard & collaborative design facilitation
flows, sitemaps, wireframes and low-fi prototypes
rapid & higher fidelity prototypes
multi-modal user testing, analysis & refinement
(A/B & preference tests, remote usability tests, field tests, etc)

Project Leadership

Familiar with, and experienced in, waterfall and agile methodologies, I prefer the latter for digital design work, in particular. I bring strong organizational and communications skills to any project.

Typical activities & outputs:

critical path planning
stakeholder expectation & scope management
thorough project documentation & milestone/task tracking
project closeout & lessons learned analysis

WordPress Consulting

I specialize in WordPress theme development and project coordination services. I bring a strong understanding of standard web development processes, and can help you with everything from hosting and platform setup, through custom theme development, to full site builds.
